‘The Heart of Jesus’ by Dane Ortlund

There’s just one place in the four Gospels where we hear Jesus tell us about His heart―in other words, the very centre of who He is. He says: “Come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30 ESV). Jesus tells us He’s “gentle and lowly in heart” . In his book The Heart of Jesus: How He Really Feels about You, Dane Ortlund unfolds and applies these wonderful―and perhaps even surprising―words from the lips of our Lord. What does our Saviour actually think of us? What does He actually feel about us in all our sins and failures? And we see that Jesus loves us more deeply than we can know. His tender heart is moved with compassion towards us. This little book’s chapters are short enough to be enjoyed at bedtime, around the dinner table, or during lunchtime. It would make for excellent devotional reading. Read the publisher’s description HERE, and you can download an excerpt HERE.
